Got a 2000 BMW 3 series 320 and a warning light is appearing on the dash. When i look in the user manual is say its has something to do with the exhaust emissions.
1. What does this actually mean
2. Is it expensive to resolve
That popped up on my '99 318i dash last month.
It stayed on for a few hours of driving, but then went out. I never had the time to find out if it was serious. Yes the manual reads Emissions warning.
I don't fancy taking mine to the local dealer as I'm in the UK and the car is out of warranty. Last time I asked them to look at something they wanted £100 just to look at it, let alone fix it.
I have the "Service Engine Soon" light on as well, popped in about a month ago. It is intermittent, cleared 4 times but has come back. I recently had to take the vehicle in for a mandatory State Emissions Testing (checks catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, gas cap pressurization, and other stuff) and passed...but the warning light is still on. I've got an appt. this Monday at the dealership, and my 01 325i is stiill under warranty.... I just hope its covered under the warranty.
