Hi I am a new BMW owner. (and loving it!!!)
but i need some help.....
today a warning light came on on my dashboard and dont know what it is for.
can any of you experts out there help please.
On the dashboard, there is a large symbol that represents the car, just below this and to the right, this symbol illuminated today.
It is red and is a block wioth 3 lines coming out from it on the right hand side.
It looks like it is symbolising some kinda light, but i tested the lights and they all appear to be functioning.
Any thoughts? Please help
thanks
TD.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. appreciate it
Its not the blinker or interior light.
Im gonna check all my lights tomorrow with the help of an assistant.
The symbol is almost definately some kind of bulb though isnt it?
what dya reckon?
TIA
This is definetely a "light out" light. It will illuminate where ever the light is out. In your case the back driver side. Remember now you have 2 brake lights on each side and also liscense plate lights. When ever I have a light out I just replace all of them in that area just because its only a matter of time before the rest of them go out anyway. I would replace both brake lights first and if the light is still on then replace your liscense plate lights. Good Luck
Thanks guys (and gals?), especially jkloese, I forgot to take into consideration that there are indeed 2 bulbs per side.
One of these bulbs is out.
Although jkloese you made a small oversight...

Now I have a similar problem but it's a bit more interesting. Both the brake warning lights have appeared on the dash and the brake lights are on permanently. I changed the brake pedal switch (some previous advice) but it hasn't improved the situation.
Could it simply be a fuse?
I would feel a bit daft taking it to the dealer just to replace a fuse.

Well, you can visually check the fuses one by one. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
