warming car up - BMW Forum

Is it my car or does BMW really not want me to start my car and pull it out in the driveway and let it warm up. After only a couple of minutes the car shuts off. I would go for heated seats these days. I may even get a heater for my garage.
The owners manual tells you to drive the car not let it sit running.

thats what i do, run the car after start, not let it idle.
but in your case, id get the car checked out, if its shutting off then you have a problem i think

have the fault codes pulled. Could be a bad cam position sensor or a faulty maf sensor. Hard to say for sure without fault codes.

Are you really SUPPOST TO RUN YOUR CAR RIGHT AWAY, DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT? I was always told to warm it and b uild preasure and let the oil thin out so it lubes and etc. Some one give me a difinitive answer Please!!!

Let the car run for a couple minutes. If it is extremely cold, 20 and below, then I would let it run for a couple more. Then drive. You should give it a brief warm up before taking off to drive. However, it isn't very good to let the car warm up to operating temp idling.
