no i was most likely going to get it professionally installed but i called bmw and they told me it wasn't recommended because the whole dash has to be taken apart apparently and that causes electronic problems but thats the same as every other car. Have either of you put an aftermarket stereo system in your cars?
Ya I had a Navi system in my 325 CI. It was a slide out screen. You just have to make sure they use a good wire loom like from metra or some thing like that. Make sure they don't EVER cut your org. BMW wiring. And there are a lot of companys that offer premade boxs with or with out speakers and amps. If you want to have a nice clean install. Its also nice because your battery is in the back so they should not charge you a lot for the install. Also if your going to put a headunit in make sure it is better then the head unit in you car.(ei. like a Navi unit)

Yeah i was going to put a flip screen navi also...i kinda didn't want to put a new headunit and try to just set up a system because i like the controls at the wheel, theres no way of keeping that with an aftermarket set up is there?
It did bother me if buttons on the wheel work or not because my navi was touch screen. So you will still have to touch the screen to add info to the navi. But installing that steering wheel control box is kinda hard to do so I would take it to a Stereo shop or if you like a challage you could try it.
