Vibration and groaning at idle and worse when turning wheels
My car is broke again! Groaning and vibration at idle and turning wheels (both). Vibration felt mainly in floor (drivers and pass) also in sterring wheel.
I'll try and attach a video of the noise....

Yeah it might be the motor mounts. But I had that problem and I had my mounts replaced and the problem continued so I looked into it further and it turned out to be an exhaust bracket had become old and brittle and since the rubber grommet had crumbled off the metal hangar was causing the vibration.
Turns out it is the power steering pump! The pump alone cost $1200 here in Canada....Anyone here know where I could get one CHEAPER than that for a 2005 BMW 320i ?
Thanks
Holy man. $1,200? Is that dealer prices? A friend of mine needed his 2004 320i power steering pump swapped and i got it for like $320.
Now the reason yours may have failed is because the Luk LF20 pumps had a problem with the impeller becoming stuck and snapping. The LF30' pumps dont have this problem. Order an LF30 pump, but you will need a different high pressure hose.
Theirs two places you can check out. Able Parts in Burnaby BC is a salvage yard for BMW's and they should have one. Or if you want a brand new one check out BimmerSpecialist.ca. Last i checked a new one was right around $400. If you were in Calgary i could swap it out for you. I still have my friends old broken LF20 pump in my garage lol.
Hi,
Don't choose from the old one, instead get a new one for your BMW. Yes LF30 pump would be fine, but check if this would fit with your BMW. You can take your car to a garage shop where you can get easily get repaired your car.
