If I am not mistaken, the ECU stores the HVAC settings as they were when the car is shut down. This is to insure that if the heat defrost controls do not properly activate upon startup, you have the most recent settings activated.

I read this in the Bentley Manual...er. I think....gordo

I always shut them off as soon as i start my car, but the next time that i turn my car back on the heaters or A/C comes back on. The dealership said that all their cars do that and they don't know why?? is this true or he just said it cause he didn't know the answer. Does everybodies car do that here???

Thanks

I just bought a 99 323i and was wondering how to not have the heater/ac come on at start up. thanks

yea how do you make it so the ac/heater doesn't turn on when starting the car?

I was looking for an answer to this as well. Is it possible?
