Red face Value of my BMW 330i with blown motor??

I have a 2001 BMW 330i with a blown motor. It has 170,000 miles. Other than the blown motor, its in good condition.

Rather than fixing it, I was thinking that I would sell it, as is, to someone who wants to part it out or fix it.

How much should I sell it for? I don't want to short myself or screw anyone else. What would be a fair price?

Thanks for your help!

A wrecked/written off car is worth 10% of blackbook value. So for arguments sake lets say yours is normally worth $10,000. As a write off its now worth $1,000. Selling the car as a whole for parts you might get $2-2,500. $3,000 if your lucky, but depends on your area and how many people want the car. A friend of mine had an 04 330i that was written off and ended up selling the whole car after buying it back from the insurance company but i never got to ask him what he sold it for. You wont "screw" anyone but yourself if you price it too high, because nobody will be interested in it.

You could make just as much or more if you strip and part it out yourself. Manual transmissions are worth a fair bit.

I should ask, how is the motor "blown"? Whats the damage and how was it caused?
