I've had my V1 for over a year.. and still am boggled at what the quick flicker from Ka to J represents. I'll be speeding along the highway when the Ka band goes off... then, on occassion, it flickers to a "J" band and makes a different noise not of the "laser noise, radar noise, radio noise, or security noise."
Does this happen to anyone else? if so.. what is the "J" telling me?
weird... I've had several people drive by me with their el cheap-o detectors setting my V1 off and never got the 'J' reading... always blips with the 'K' band.
Was this a recent upgrade? I purchased my detector late 2004.
I purchased mine in May, 2005 (and haven't had a ticket since!). It does the J thing.
I keep mine on L for city driving and A for highway driving. Obviously there's less likelihood of false alarms on the highway, except the junk detectors, so max sensitivity is generally the way to go, especially with the higher speeds :-)
Yeah, I trust my V1 without question. But I was popped from behind once in upstate NY. Tricky cop... but his instant-on gave me enough warning to lose 10mph off the speedometer! Didn't help the poor sap tailing me, but oh well.
I don't change the settings on mine, so that's probably why I don't get the "J"unk.
