Or you can just unlock the doors. That would unlock the trunk.
BMW took thse things into consideration, so there is no need for a separate control, which is why there is no easy way to just plug-and-play. To achieve this (which you seem determined to do, although I don't see why it is necessary), you will need to splice wires.
I'm confused here. My '01 330i has a trunk release above the hood release, you know, above the dead pedal. It's a little button you can press that does the same thing as the key fob. AFAIK, the key fob button doesn't work when you have the key in the ignition, so you have that problem as well.
