The other day while I was driving my 2000 323i, when all of a sudden I heard a grinding noice as I hit a patch of ice. After that my traction control light came on and would not turn off. Now my traction control works for about the first quarter mile and after that the light comes on and the traction control does not work. I also hear a grinding when the traction control is working. Any suggestions what could have gone wrong?
sounds like it is using the brakes (i think the grinding is the sound of abs pump acting on the rear discs). since it is doing it in normal conditions, it does sound like a fault in the dsc computer. perhaps tech can contribute...
The abs pump makes noise when it's braking for you. There is a fault in the system IF the light comes on solid and stays on. Is that what is happening?
If it flashes rapidly, it is just showing that the system is intervening.
