Is there any way to disable the traction control? I mean can you do like some other cars and manually enable and disable it and if so what has to be done in order to be able to do it?
I've looked around the console area on my girlfriend's car and she doesn't seem to have one. Maybe I overlooked it. She has a 2002 325 Ci...so I take it all that come equipped with traction control have an on/off switch?

It is the DSC button over the ashtray...Hold it down for a couple of seconds and you will see the amber indicator light come on the dashboard. That disables it when the light is on and vice versa.
Stage 1. Press the button once and the orange/yellow light with the "!" in the middle comes on. Disabling stage one simulates a LSD. It will allow you to peel out but it will kick in to help you control the car if your sliding laterally.
Stage 2. Press and hold the button for about 3 secs. The same light will go on as before, in addition the brake light will illuminate yellow/orange. This completely disables traction control. It will let you peel out, spin out, crash and burn, etc.. you name it...
