Please help. I have 02 plate 330d auto which I have been told requires a gearbox rebuild.
Ok. So when warm the car will not select a forward or reverse gear. I have told it is the torque converter therefore the gearbox will need to be rebuilt. The issue that I have is should the car still be able to drive when engine is cold with no problems ?
After a couple of minutes it stops working and just revs. Turn engine off leave it a couple of minutes to coold down and it's fine again.
Take it to an independant Auto Transmission specialist and see what they can do for you, it sounds unusual that it drive ok when its cold, but not after a few minutes. It may be that a fluid and filter change. Make sure they use a genuine filter.
