The other day my car had no power while driving.... Kinda funny feeling where you give it gas but it doesn't go anywhere, so I went home since it was close. After going inside and coming back out and trying to start the car, it wouldn't run at all. Just shutter and die. So I called the dealer got it towed, and the next day I get a phone call from the dealer telling me that both fuel tanks and pumps would need to be replaced..... About 1800 dollars worth of work. Only good thing is warranty is covering it all, so no worries, and the dealer service man told me they will be replacing everything from the fuel rail back with new parts. So I feel great about that.
On a side note one of the service guys told me this is a very common issue with BMW's.... Has anyone else had this problem???

DAMN?!?!?!?! That is alot of stuff they are replacing. Do you know of anything that might have been under a recall notice?

Nothing was said about recall... But I do have one more question for you guys. Can anyone give me a link to the best priced headlight lens replacements??? 2004 E46 330i
I know that on the E46, we need to watch our fuel gauge and try to stay above the quarter-tank mark to prevent fuel pump issues, but I had never heard of anything as severe as what happened to your car.

Its a 2004 BMW 330i E46.... Funny I never let it get below half a tank, but then again if the service guy told me that the gauge was never correct due to the sending units where bad as well.
Have not heard of this issue before on the E46. And agree it seems quite severe to be typical barring a recall...ask your dealer for an explanation as to WHY such widespread failure and fund out what they know...

Ok, I gave the dealer a call to check in on the work being done, and ask why its common. He told me its because of the design of the two tanks our cars have. I'm like ok so does BMW plan to fix this or what. He told me they did and that the parts being placed in my car will not allow this to happen anymore. HMMM WTF oh well i guess at least its done. lol
Wow I Think This Is Whats Happening To My Car I Got A 330i 2003 I've Been Having The Same Problem It Starts But Will Only Go Like 5 Mph But After Letting It Sit For A Day It Works Then Will Do The Same At Random Times Was This The Case With You Too???
YES the sitting for a day was the major factor that got me all confused...
On a side note does anyone here know of a really good aftermarket insurance company for a BMW??? I have a local one on my motorcycle just because I always have one on my vehicles. The one for my bike won't do cars so, I am looking into one when my current one for my 330i runs out.
