third break light - BMW Forum

has anyone changed the third break light or had to trouble shoot any problems with it. its $163 and i want to exhaust all avenues before i get another. also i cant figure out to get the thing off.

Chase the wiring, buddy...
If all fails, run a wire to one of the clusters !

Can't see what you're driving, but '02 - '05 E46's have had a lot of rear tail light/brake light problems...currently being investigated by the DOT/NHTSA. Related to and "open ground connection" at the 8-pin connection. Ref: SIB-630306 of Feb. 2007.
