Thinking About Getting A 2000 328ci

i searched for the answer but couldnt find anything!

im thinking about getting a 2000 328ci and i took one for a ride today and noticed a gray plastic stopper under the gas pedal

the question i have is, is that adjustable or can you remove it?

just woundering what you guys did about it?

another question i have, is there anything i should know about it before i go buy it? (problems or anything you think i should know?)

Things I've replaced in the first 6 months of owning my 2000 328i:

-Camshaft Intake Position Sensor ($100 in parts DIY, dealer install = $150)
-Oil Change ($90 total dealer charge, $40 in parts DIY)
-Air filter ($25 mfr. std., $40 K&N DIY)
-Spark plugs ($36 in parts DIY)
-Secondary Air Pump and Valve (waiting to be replaced, $300 in parts DIY, dealer install = $150)
-Front right turn signal socket and bulb ($19 in parts, $15 dealer install)

Before buying the car, if you've narrowed your choice down to what year and model, purchase an OBDII Fault Code reader either online or at a local store. Connect to the cars diagnostic port (engine bay, round port, just behind passenger's dash, plastic twist off cap) and read the faults. Drive for at least 10 miles before using the code reader. Take note of what the computer says, deduct accordingly.

Great idea about the code reader, best advise I have read on the forum on how to buy a used Bimmer.

The gray plastic stopper needs to be there. It works with your steptronic transmission. If you are in fifth gear, step on the gas pedal and push hard enough to press the grey button, the car will automatically shift to 3rd gear and give you a lot of power. I think of it like a turbo button. It's pretty cool.
