Question Thermostat Replacement? 05 325xi

Hi,
I need to change out my thermostat and housing this weekend (stuck open). I had a couple questions I was hoping could get answered:

1-Is there any gasket sealer to deal with when replacing the thermostat/housing or just an o-ring?

2-Do I need to completely drain my antifreeze or can I just remove the part, spill some and top off. I know I have to bleed the system but the car only has 28k so if I didn't have to completely drain it, I won't.

3-Do I have to use special BMW antifreeze? Can I just use Prestone or similar?

Thanks in advance!!

1.Looks like a sealed unit so I would say 'o' ring. #2 here:

2.No you can just drain whats need and top off.

3. As its an 05 I would say its bmw antifreeze, you can top off with another make, but you should change the whole lot every two years anyway.

If the car only has 28K on it, shouldn't the dealer be taking care of this for you?

Thanks Marti5!

As far as the warranty goes, it is 4 years/50k. I reached the 4 years this spring since it is a 2005.
