Uh, warranty? If anything goes wrong after the install the dealer will rape you on the warranty.

Why the vents?

if I remember correctly, the dash pad has gotta come out. Damn it, if I only had a pic in front of me it would jog my memory. Forgive me but it's be a little while since I've removed one.

AZ325Ci is on a distinguished road
instructions on how to remove the air vents.

Left or driver's side vent
1. Pry gently at the dashboard trim to remove.
CAUTION - to avoid marring interior trim, work with a plastic prying tool.

2. Remove air vent mounting screws.

3. Lift vent slightly and withdraw from dashboard.

NOTE
* Removal of right or center dashboard vent is similar

* To fully remove the center dashboard vent, use pliers to detach control cable housing and remove from control lever.

* Remove trim on right side prior to removing center trim.

4. Installation is reverse of removal.

i wish i had some pictures to show you, but i hope this helps.

you're right, I was thinking E38 center vent. See, it just took a little jogging of the memory. Now I almost wish I was still a tech.... nah
I guess I'll just have to go buy one of each model to keep on hand.
