hi, this is my first post. iv got a 2002 325ci and there is a slight knocking noise from front and rear when going over small bumps in road. more noticable at slow speeds. any help welcome.
not likely a 2002 would have the knocks you complain of unless it has been abused.
So, the Q is... have u done any repairs or mods to the suspension system previously?
A 6 year old car does not have to be abused to make a knocking noise. thrust rod bushings are a common wear item on your chassis. I would have those checked along with the rest of the suspension components. Obviously no one can diagnose a noise over the internet but thats a good place to start.

Our 2000 323I had the same clunking noise at low speeds too. Turns out the sway bar links in the front and rear were worn. I ordered new links from Bavauto.com. Have your mechanic check the rear coil springs too. Ours were broken and had to be replaced. Our car has 114,000 miles so your car may not have the same issues.
HI
I’m pretty new to this forum as well and I seem to be having similar problem with my 2000 528i with 90,000Miles.
When driving slow and hitting bump I could hear the clunking noise coming from front suspension (I hear it coming from the driver side). When driving at the speed between 50-60mph I feel little vibration on the steering wheel as well as I hear like wobbling noise(sounds like loose part vibrating, etc) coming for the same area.
I have mechanic look at it and he claimed he checked bushings, arms and stabilizer links and everything seem to be tight. He says it maybe steering rack that is causing this noise and suggesting replacing steering rack.
Also, I want to mention that I don’t feel any play when moving steering wheel, feels perfectly smooth, not any kind of noise.
Has anyone experience same or similar issue? Any ideas?
Do you think steering rack should be replaced?
I have a 2002 318ci with 76000 miles on it. I have been hearing a similiar noise for a while now, I have replaced control arms both sides, control arm bushes, anti roll bar links and still the noise persists. Only this week I realised that if I bounce the car, in the upward bounce the noise is clearly coming from the top of the strut, anyone know if it's just a small part or new strut required? Cheers in advance

Just a quick note: I had a 02 530 and I thought I had a suspension issue, it turned out it was a leveling bushing for the headlamp system. I only heard the clunk at low speeds going over bumps. Hope this helps.
it seems to be a common occurance lol, i got a 318i 2001 with 72k on the clock and i had the same noise coming from my left front wat mine ended up bieng was the front left strut had been damaged inside and my rear control arms had cracked, and my rear sway bar was loose, so basically i went and replaced the sway bars and got new coil overs and the noise has disappeared so maybe getting the struts checked aswell would be a good idea
