sunroof shade dissapeared ???

Hi all .... i am in need of some help . I have a 1999 328 with a sunroof shade issue . I have read in here that it may be a common issue ? Here is the problem .... the shade you draw across the sunroof has dissapeared into my headliner somewhere ?????
I have tried to spot it in there without tearing apart the headliner .... i cant see it anywhere .... like it doesnt have alot of room to go in there ?? Like some others in here my sunroof made a crunching noise and then it got stuck ... i managed to free it up and when i went to open it it literally got sucked in to a black hole in my headliner ????
Any suggestions to get it back out ??? I really dont want to have to take out the headliner as im sure thats quite a chore ??? Has this happened to anyone in here ???
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

Sounds like headliner will have to come out in your case, not being able to even see where the shade went and all. Yes it is a fairly common problem with the earlier E46's, there is an updated sunshade kit that you will have to have installed for the sunroof to work properly again.
