Sunroof problem

Sometimes I have trouble opening/closing the cover thats covering the sunroof. Anybody else had this problem...how do i fix it?? And when the mean the cover I mean the little door or watever thats inside the car that you push then comes the sunroof...

Do you mean the part in the headliner that has a handle you can slide open to look out the moon roof(which is a glass sunroof)? what is the Model and Year of the car? By hard to slide do you mean just takes alot of effort to close it or does it actually get hung up and you have to jiggle it to get it to move further?

yes thats what i mean and it just gets stuck when i try to slide it open..sometimes if i giggle it long enough it will open...any idea why?

for me it just a little bit of dirt and grime in the track and i removed the cover and cleaned it out... in the mean time while taking it out i broke the clips for the track and threw the cover away... just becarefull pulling out the cover and check you tracks for dirt and make sure your clips arent already broken

The clips are definitely broken or missing. You have to remove the sunroof to access the sunshade to fix the clips. They are expensive too. There's a DYI proceedure I used for replacing the clips on the web. I don't remember the web site. Try and google it to find it. Good luck!

Yes that is the correct part for the left sliding rail. You also need two sliding rail tabs for the right side P/N 54-13-8-246-025. The web site I found for replacing these parts is www.lincomatic.com/e46sunroof. It was very helpful and had great pictures showing the different procedures. Take your time and follow the directions and you should do fine.

I took it to the dealer to ask for an estimate and they said close to $500...is that too much?

It's too much if you can do it yourself.
