Sorry, guys I am a new owner of a Bimmer, just a quick question for experienced you, I got a 3er and just reached its first 2000 Km, I wonder if I should have an engine oil change now or just wait until it gets to 25000 Km? the manual says first oil change at 2000 Km, but the dealer told me to wait until 25000 Km, please advise! I really thank you for your help!
you cant do any wrong by changeing the oil and filter.
and ppl that know me on this forum will know that i like to change my oil once every 6 mnths[and filter]
also,if the manual says so,,then do as it says...the technician at the dealership could be wrong..the manual has been approved my probably 10 different ppl b4 publication
go with the manual

thanks Storme, but unfortunately that happened quite some time ago, and I took their advice which I shouldn't have............... just got my first oil change at 20000km(11 months after purchase) couple days ago........ but one thing that may be positive during the tough time for the engine, I have kept the rpm under 3000 always before the oil change, is there anything that I should do to safe the engine? I noticed that the car is a bit heavy since 12000km and still after the oil change...... please HELP!!!!!!

I think its time to rev up the car, above 5000 rpm. There are some post where it was discuss that if you don't rev your car regularly (weekly basis) it might get slower, such that the engine does'nt become use to high revs.
I don't think that it's so much the engine not becoming used to high-revs, but the computer adjusting to your driving style. Used to be an old mechanics trick to drive a car really hard just before handing it back to a customer - software adjusts and the customer thinks the car feels "peppier" when they get it back.... I'm not sure that this holds true with newer cars as much over short periods, but it's still probably quite reliable over longer periods.

I work at a dealership or stealership as we all like to call it. Everyone that has a Bimmer changes their oil about every 5-6,000 miles. When I first got my car, I changed my oil at 2,000 miles then every 6K since. Remember, it can't hurt to change it, but it can hurt if you go too long. That reminds me. I should do it this weekend.
