Strange Smell In My E46

My 2001 330i (sport, premium, 5-speed) smells like crayons when the weather gets hot. I presume it is the plastic. Any ideas out there?

I told my wife the same thing and she said I'm nuts! Looking on the driveway, I see small areas of a waxy substance. My VWs have a waxy coating on the inside of the door to prevent corrosion, and on hot days it dribbles out the weep holes in the bottom of the door. This is my guess.

Its very common to run over a plstic shopping bag on the freeway and not even notice. The bag will melt on to your exhasut system and really never goes away unless you get under there and scrape it off.
