Hi,
I've a 2001 e46, 318ci sport.
The throttle seems very stiff sometimes, particularly on a cold or rainy day. Anything that is 12+ and the sun is out then it's generally ok. My model unfortunately doesn't benefit from the Fly-By-Wire system and still uses the conventional cable throttle assembly.
Symptoms:
Upon pushing the accelerator pedal is slightly resists and then nudges on past and is smooth thereafter, as if something is blocking. As you can imagine, this isn't desirable for smooth acceleration. My mechanic has 'lubed' the springs etc on the throttle area before which has helped but it eventually wears off.
Upon inspecting the throttle assembly when the engine is running, the pedal is resistant at first as is the assembly when you push it gently. when the engine is off both the pedal and throttle assembly are perfectly smooth. odd
Any suggestions are welcome.
Phil
