I'm looking for some advice. I have the HK Stereo upgrade in my 328i. The car has the stock BMW Business CD stereo, which is broken. At first it lost its ability to change stations, then the AM/FM unit stoppped functioning, but the CD worked. Now the unit either doesn't turn on, or PHONE is shown. Of course, I don't have the BMW phone...

I'm looking at replacing the stereo but I'd like to keep the HK amp and speakers. I'm not sure what my options are. BMW wants $800 for a new BMW Business CD and control unit. This seems rediculusly high to me, given it is a basic AM/FM/CD Player.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Can anyone make a suggestion as to after market stereos that will work with the HK system? Do I need to replace the entire thing? Am I best off giving BMW $800 more for a lousy stereo?

Any help would be appreciated.

Brian
