hello all

i don't quite understand BMW's logic for shifting with the steptronic transmission...why is it to shift up a gear you have to pull back on the stick... wouldn't the more logical shifting method would be to push forward to shift up?

doesn't make sense to me...maybe someone here can help explain...

its the theory taken from semi auto rally/race cars etc. the forward motion pulls u back so u pull back to go up a gear. when breaking u lean forward and go down gears etc

uhm... mine's the exact opposite of what you guys are saying. to drop a gear (4 to 3), I pull back on the lever. to increase a gear (3 to 4), i push forward on the lever.

I can't remember what year the switch was made but they Steptronic changed directions to move in the same direction as the SMG when it came out I believe.
