steptronic?

first of all .. i dunno how to drive stick =X
so anywayz i was lookin at this car they said had "steptronic" n i put the stick into the lil place with a + and - signs.. n the stick moves around haha
so who knows how to drive "steptronic?"

ummm.... wtf? well steptronic is kinda cool, but manual is still much btr. my range rover has it, and its usefull when like im going down a hill and i dont wanna ride my brakes, but it still feels weird using a sequential gearshift, but with no damn clutch.

Ok... I'll play along..

A steptronic is like an automatic but with the ability to change gears by just tabing the gear selector forward or backward.... without a clutch. Where it displays a '+' sign... that's up one gear, and a '-' sign is for down a gear...

I hope your playing around, kinda scary if your not....

PS, in case you dont' know, a clutch is the third peddle in manual cars (furthest on the left), it's used to enable the driver to change the gears without screwing up the engine.

i jus never drove stick b4
ive been driving for like only .. 2 years or so.. and most of em were illegally until i got my permit 10 months ago n since that its all been auto cars

how do u kno when to change like when to press the + and when to press the -

Well....I mess around with this whenever I'm on the highways....when you move the shifter to the left....the vehicle goes into "Sport" mode....hence the "S" near the speedometer....and the "M" represents the manual capabilities....

When to throw it down...or up shift? I go by RPMs of the car....or the speed at which I'm driving....

But if you don't do it right...or miss up or down shifting....the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) automatically switches gears for you....WHATEVER you do...DO NOT turn that button off...if you do....you're screwed...or I'm told by the techs at the dealership....

I think its pretty fun for awhile....but after a bit...I get tired of it and switch it back to the right...and just enjoy the BMW driving experience!
