steering wheel replacement

Has anyone replaced their steering wheel before? I am thinking of swapping my wheel for an M3 one. Just wondering if it is difficult job.

Any feedback most appreciated.

yupyup did mine. i had the triangle shapped airbag wheel (3spoke sport wheel) to the E46 M3 wheel. One of the best mod ive ever done.

it was easy to do. it is quite expensive if you dont have the round airbag already.

Yes I do have the round airbag (2003/04 model). Is this a do-able DIY jobs without stuffing up the airbag, etc?

Some instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Though after reading through, I should get it done at the shop. Not confident with the airbag bit....

if the battery is disconnected...the airbag shouldnt (in theory) come out.

I did this mod and as already stated, best mod ever.

I did this myself too. The only reason you need to disconnect the battery is that you'll avoid getting the airbag warning light on the dashboard, which you'll need to subsequently have to get reset by the dealer.

Honestly, getting the airbag is the most fiddly bit, but follow the instructions to the letter and you'll be fine.
