Starts sometimes not other times

I have a 2002 330CI it will run great for weeks then I WILL STOP AT A STORE COME OUT AND IT WONT START. CRANKS BUT NOT START. If I leave it over night and return it starts right up. Has done it twice now. My wife refuses to drive it afraid of getting stuck.

maybe fuel pump wants to go out??
Or maybe crank sensor wants to quit??
it could be lots of things

thanks for your help, i have replace the fuel filter and had the pressure on the fuel pump check and it is working correctly...is there any way testing anything or do i have to break down again to get it looked at?

well since you said that it starts sometimes only then it means its an intermitantly failing sensor which is kinda hard to diagnose... those usually throw a code is there a check engine light?
have you had any work done to it lately?

no check engine light, should i run it be autozone and see if they get an error code? And no work done on it except changing the fuel filter but after the first time it did it. We went with the cheap piiece first before going to the fuel pump. Again thanks for your input.

thats what i recomend see if there are any stored codes for crank or cam sensors
also another thing is the security system might be going beserk...
again lots of possibilities

I had the same problem, replaced the all perpos relay and all strating problems gone, you can fine the relay in the relay box under the hood, it cost about $10.00.
