speedo not working

hi all i have a 1999 bmw 328ci my speedo not working changed clocks still nothing, how is the speedo driving tho engine or gearbox on them

Speedo not working in most cases is the Speed display sender not working

on you car, it is located in the rear differential gearbox

That's interesting DH, here in the UK the speedo sensor (which also reads for ABS & DSC) is located it the rear wheel assembly, I think its the left one for the speedo looking from the rear, same as #21 here:

RealOEM.com BMW E46 328i REAR AXLE SUPPORT/WHEEL SUSPENSION

They may have put them in the diff in the USA, just seems a bit strange???
