Some Performance Questions On 04 330 Zhp

First of all, this is an awesome forum. I just got my first BMW. 04 AUTO 330Ci ZHP. and was wondering what the difference between the auto and manual is. Are the top speeds both still 155? How about the 3.07 diff? And are the suspension sitffer on the manual? And finally whats the 0-60/ quarter mile on the auto?

There aren't any differences at all except the transmission itself, as far as I know. With these cars going to automatic is typically between .5-1.0 seconds slower.

Thanks a lot for the reply! So does that mean it's slower from a start? Just cause our auto can't launch at high RPM? So at highway speeds, or say 3rd gear would it be slower?

Yup. slower all around.. more so from a launch since you can't rev it up..

in general, auto trannies are just less efficient than manual trannies, so less power gets to the wheels. Tpyically for bmws it's about 10-15% for MT and 15-20% for AT...

those are actually really good numbers though..

compare it to a mazda 6

mt is about 25% loss and auto is about 30% loss..

another reason why our bmw's with less HP are still able to beat those newer cars with more..

Any mods for these cars? Software? Would be nice to have 500 extra rpms!
