First post here. Just got my 05 325i (on a great deal as dealer looking to make room for E90s in a few months) last week and had a question on Sirius installation.
I couldn't find any threads on the board here particular to DIY Sirius installs on an 05. No way am I paying $700+ to install an option for which the car is already prewired for.
First off, where can I can purchase the necessary hardware, and what might I need to buy? I have an older Sirius unit now that FM mods, but I want to drop in the appropriate hardware to use my current head unit for the sirius. Do I need to go through the dealer or can I pick something up at the local Best Buy?
On the install, seems pretty simple, pop out the shelf in the trunk, find the exisiting wires plug and play. I'm unclear if i need to also wire an antenna or if the unit will somehow plug into the current antenna.

I'm sure there are comparable Sirius options, but you might not know that you can also do XM:
I say go with the dealer install. I know it's big money, but it is worth it. I did a lot of looking around and it would cost somewhere around $300 to have one installed, so not really a whole lot of savings. In addition, you would have to find a place to put the control head. None of the options looked good in a fantastic car. It works beautifully and is controlled by the Business CD head unit. Mine is installed in my 2003 Steel Blue 325Cic with HK sound. It rocks! Definitely go with Sirius.
The thing about the BMW Sirius is that the Sirius module has the specific BMW shaped ports on it that aftermarket Sirius units don't have plus the specific installation brackets that make the job a breeze...it's a real quick and easy install actually...I've been totally impressed with each one I do.

Thanks, from what I've read it sounds pretty easy. I'm trying to find a deal on the BMW sirius module, maybe from pacific bmw, anyone have other suggestions?
