Shiftronic Manual Mode

I've got an 06 325i with the 6 speed shiftronic. I'm new to the car, and don't understand how the manual mode works. When I'm cruising along at 50-60, engage manual mode, it won't downshift, just stays in "M6". Is this normal behavior?

No its not normal, try starting off in manual mode....

When I start out in manual mode, the upshifting works as expected.

But the down doesnt ? if so there is something wrong, it could be the switch under the centre shift cover...

Dealer says that somethings wrong with the actuator. Gettin it fixed thursday.

I'd love to know how much they said it would cost to repair this. I have an 2006 325i that does the exact same thing!! It will shift up in manual but not down. Please post back after Thrusday and let me know how much it cost.

Didn't quote a cost. Covered by warranty. Doesn't sound like a big deal, something about the actuator controls, but with BMW nothing is cheap. I'll ask them when I pick it up.

The actuator is the swicth basically its a 15minute job.

I got the car back yesterday, they ran diagnostics on the tranny and changed the shifter assembly. Didn't quote a cost, covered by warranty.
