Ok this may be a dumb question, but is the black antenna on top of my 2000 323ci do anything that I need it too? Is it just for the pre wired cell phone. Because if that's the case I like the shark antenna and it is only good for looks so why not?

The shark fin antennas are used for the GPS system.

I have to disagree with you there. The shark tooth/fin, whatever it reminds you of, can also act as a vortex generator. Essentially it disturbs and disrupts the Bernolli flow of air, which, at very high speed, can cause your car to float a little, NOT GOOD! This is the basic concept of all airplane wings, you will notice they have larger surface area on the top than bottom, JUST like a CAR.
