Service Indicator reset

Hi,

I have a 318i 2004 (E46) BMW with 105456km on the clock.
I need to know if there is any way I can reset the service indicator info? I went over the inspection km's and now every time I switch the ignition on it shows how far I am over the inspection. I will take it for the inspection but not now, in the meantime I want to reset this, is there any way I can do it myself?

Elliot

You only need to hold the left odometer reset button while turning the key to position 1 (Accessory). Keep holding the button for 5 or so seconds until any of the following shows in the display: OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION with RESET or RE. Release the button and press it again for another 5 or so seconds until RESET or RE flash. While the display flashes, press the button one more time briefly. If done correctly, END SIA should show up for a few seconds. All done.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response Marti5. I did it and it seem to sort out the inspection interval showing - just a few questions:

1. Will they pick this up on the next service?
2. Will this have any affect whatsoever on my car or anything else?
3. When I did the reset it showed rESEt - Inspection - 51A -do you know what this means?
4. Now when I switch on the ignition it shows OIL SERVICE 250000 - is this normal and what does this mean?

-I apologize if this seems like stupid questions - just thought I'd like to know.

Thank you

Elliot

1. No

2. No

3. No, it just comes up like that, but doesnt affect anything probably just the reset program

4. It should say 25000, it should count down as you drive, when you get to '0' , time for an oil change, but I do mine every 7000 regardless.
