Service Indicator Reset???

I just had my 1999 328i serviced. How do I reset the service indicator which shows "-800" when I start the car. Is there a way to do it outside of taking it to a BMW dealership? Thanks.

If the place you took it to, was a certified BMW service dealer they should be able to do it. I know the place I am taking mine too today does it. My service should be only $150

I figured it out for the service center. Put the key in the ignition, hold the trip meter counter (left side) for 5 seconds, then turn the key to the 1 position while keeping the trip meter pressed until the display starts to flash reset, once that happens let go of the trip reset and press it again. This should reset the meter. Hope it works for you, it did for me.

you can conenect hole number 7 and 19 for 11.7 sec its in your computer conector
if you standig facing the car under the hood on the left

I tried to press the trip reset, then turn to position 1. Now, instead of a -800 number, I get "OIL SERVICE 15,000" along with soome annoying beeps.

Any advice??? Thanks!!!

put your seat belt on, press the trip button and turn to position 1, when reset shows up let go and hold again till reset blinks, let go and press trip button once.
