| Self-help for "service is due" warning light The "service is due" indication started showing on the instrument cluster of my 2006 325i, so I set up an appointment at my local dealer, the dealer I bought the CPO vehicle from. Just from scanning the key, the service adviser was able to tell me that the cause of this indication was the "need' to replace the cabin microfilter. Expressing my displeasure at having to take the time to come into a dealership for such a non-critical issue, I asked the service adviser if he could reset the warning and let me take care of the filter on my own. He introduced me to their service manager who was able to access a menu that displayed on the instrument cluster by pressing the trip odometer and then scrolling through the various indications with the turn stalk computer toggle.
This happened so quickly that I wasn't able to confirm what exactly the fellow was doing and I hope a member can confirm what this service manager did.
The ability to turn off these warnings by knowledgeable BMW owners, without any special tools or service fees, is worth dissemination. Tom
