Ok well somehow my registration got deleted off this forum for who knows what reason but im going to give it another chance before I throw in the towel.

AAANNNYYWWAAYY...

I just purchased my first BMW, Traded my problematic 2001 STS Caddy on a bright red 2001 BMW 330i with 31K on wednesday, got her for around 26k with DSC, Xenons, cold weather package and Steptronic tranny and yada yada. I have a few questions about the car.

Firstly, I have the same wheels and bumper as what is supposedly on the 330xi but I am not sure if thats what I have because I have no "X" in the model on my trunklid.

Also, the only thing I have found not to like besides the diplorable audio system compared to the 425W unit in my Cadillac, is that my seatbelt retractors are very spongy. They go back so limp and slowly that im wondering whether BMW wants you to use seatbelts at all! Is this a known issue, anyway to correct it easily?

Also I would like to Carfax it but my account ran out just before I bought it. Since I dont really actually trust my car purchasing decision them anyway I wasnt too worried about it. If someone can run it for me and let me know what issues are common problems with this car and year Id be very appreciative!

Thanks again,
Ian.

Play: The seat belt retractors do fade easily on the bimmers compared to other automobiles. They are usually pretty soft fealing but I think the reason the bmw designers did this is to avoid the seat belts from flying back and whacking the windows and door panels. They somewhat expected the owners to guide the belt back home. However, you may have one or two that are worn out or the belt may be twisted up inside or whatever. Do you have any warranty left? If so, take it in, complain about it and let them replace em.
