i dunno. You should do some research on some classified web sites for comparison. Remember that if you buy a salvaged car, the resell value is gone - so when its time for you to sell it, you wont get much. If it was up to me, it the car is completely restored and in perfect condition, i'd pay $20K for the salvaged 330ci.
ask for the pics of the car before it was restored. run car fax and make sure its not flood damage. if the guy is selling for 20.000 you should be able to talk him down. i think 18,000 is a fair price. i've bought a salvage car before and it ran fine. but each car is different...so....
I test drove the car - runs perfect - my only concern is about registration in CA and getting insured - I will call DMV and call AAA and find out..I will offer 19K for it Any thoughts on registration and insurance and possible issues with them? thanks for your responses..
well i live in vegas so i dont know if the dmv in cali ask for the same things but this is what they asked for in vegas. i had to take it in to a shop and get a dmv vehicle inspection(39.97). then i had to take it to the dmv and get an appraisal. then after i had those two reports. with those two reports,i also had to have the original salvage title and the verification of vehicle. i also had the original reciept and thats what they used to determine the tax for my car. hope this helps
also about the insurance. AAA will insure it. they will insure it for 50% of the cars value. thats what they told me. im guessing they mean 50% of what a non-salvage car goes for.
btw. http://www.1sourceautowarranty.com/ as of april started selling warranty for salvage cars. they will sell you any of their warranty plans for a salvage title. the catch is that what ever plan you get, they will charge you an extra 1000 for a salvage title.
OK - the owner says it has a vacuum leak and engine light comes on, any ideas on how much to fix this - I know its a tough question but can anyone give me best case worst case scenario - like for example $200-$1500? Appreciate the help- I need to make a decision to buy the car or not??
not sure about the leak but if it is suppose to be fully restored....i dont know why they didn't fix the leak. if your looking for a fixed up salvage bmw, take a look at this place. its called a&b motors. not sure what their web address is. i think its abmotors.com or a&bmotors.com. they do a pretty good repair job and they usually have a decent amont of beemers. most of their cars are newer models too.
HELP- CARFAX Report - VIN: WBABS53412JU90294? Anyone can offer a report on this car - Appreciate your quick response as I have to make my decision tomorrow either way..thanks in advance
Ok ppl calm down. Im a wholesale dealer an i goto all auctions. Ill help u out iwth my 2 cents. Never buy a flood damaged car...Never. Also make sure u find out wat was previously wrong with it. Sometimes there are insurance jobs and there is nothing signifinatly wrong with the car. As for wat the price is... i saw a 2000 bmw 328 i with 18 inch rims with aprox. 50 k on it sell for $14,000. THis was def an insurance job~~all it had was a scratch down the side, it was vandalized and the scratch wasn't even deep, the downside...its still a salvage title. So offer the guy around $15,000 an that would be a good deal dependin on how bad the damage was and if it is registered that means it was run through the registry all ready and was inspected therefore all damage should be fixed.
And if anyone is from the boston area and would like a bmw at wholesale cost
call Ron at 978*270*2463 and he'll get u a great car at great price~ you WILL NOT A BETTER DEAL!! GURANTEED
