Can you believe this. 7k miles on my 04 330ci and the engine is acting up! Engine runs rough at idle, to the point the car shakes. Check engine soon light comes on, and stays on. Problem persists even after the engine warms up. I have a service appointment with the dealership, but they're a pta, so I don't like going unless I have to. Any simple, or common problems that I can check? Already checked the gas cap, and it is firmly in place. No changes in my driving habits (conservative), gasoline used (premium), etc. No problems with weather, I live in a south florida. Thanks in advance for any ideas or advice.

Take it to the dealer, don't take any chances, it might be your clutch, but just to be sure, take it to the dealer. It should be covered by warranty anyways.

try first:

10 gallons of new gas from a reputable brand. add 1 bottle of techron injector cleaner, and one bottle of isopropanol (better than methanol) based water remover.

then, if persists, definitely take to the dealer. if it has check engine light it will have stored fault codes, and the dealer will fix it.

my car did this EXACT same thing once, and also at around 7k, and never again. it is 12 k now. so i ignored it....
