I've noticed while drive in "D" mode and going downhill if I hit my brakes and release my car revs really high and stays there until I hit the brakes again or stop. But this doesn't happen if I'm driving in manual mode. Does anyone know what causes this?
Automatic revs higher when decending a hill when brakes hit.
This is a function of your automatic trans. Essentially the transmission downshifts to help you slow down in conjunction with the brakes. Honda referred to this function as "Grade Logic". The new automatics do some "thinking" when they are operating.
