when you replace the pads you replace the sensorattatched to the pads. theres one in the front one in the rear. its $20 and has a copper sensor on a wire all one piece. when your pads wear down to the sensor it wears off the plastic coating and exposed the copper completing the curcuit. ...and your light comes on. when you replace it it will reset by it self. I just did mine...and yup, bmw told be the same thing . easy job

Changing your brake pad sensor wire will not reset the warning indicator. To reset the light you need to turn your ignition key to "on" but don't start the engine. Then open the drivers door for one to two minutes and watch for the light to go out. It should go out using this proceedure. Try it.
yeah (aampsmb) iz rite to reset dA light after u had changed da sensor u have to put the key in the on position and wait 2 minutes then itz would go away
This didn't work for me. I also have a 2007 328i and just replaced all pads, rotors, and sensors. The light is still on. Any help would be great. Much thanks!!

Thanks for your reply ! i will bleed the brakes, also sorted the brake warning light problem ! it turns out you just need to turn ignition on so lights on dash are on without starting the engine then leave it in that position then after about 2 mins it resets the sensors and the light went out ! also the wering sound stopped ! jacked car up and spun wheels in turn and the drivers rear wheel was making the noise so restripped brake caliper and cleaned, re-copper greased anti squeel areas and noticed a small rubbing mark so took it for a short run and thats sorted, brake pedal doesnt travel as far down now and is better must have been an air bubble but will still bleed them.
Regards
Have you tried the "Old Nugget" of disconnecting the battery for a while? This (sometimes) works but might reset some other "learnt" values in other systems, but worth a try before a laptop is needed !!!
