matrad n00b Join Date: Jan 2011 Car: Posts: 1 Photos:	replacing motor in 330xi need to replace the m54 3.0 what can i stick in there? all wheel drive turbo would be nice a little on the budget but just seeing everything that will be able to swap directly in there if i can only buy a short block which ones can i get?

You could do an S54 (from an m3) + supercharger, I guess. A BMW engine that I always envisioned on an E46 is the V8 from the E39 m5.

I have no idea whether there are any considerations to be made regarding the -xi drivetrain working with a lot of hp or torque.

I've heard of people getting LS1 engines into E36's as well
