I need to replace the tires on my 2009 328i sedan. The OEM tires are Bridgestone Turanza EL42 RFT. I use winter tires (Blizzak) from Dec - Feb. Would like to get quiet tires for other 9-months of year. Any recommendations? Was considering all-season.
I personally recommend the use of designated summer/winter tires. I find the cost is worth the added safety. With that, what is your budget? What are you looking to get from these tires? Performance, comfort, longevity?
The majority of my driving is highway so would rank comfort (quite) first, then performance second. Wheels that came with car are 16" (loaner program car).
I up-sized by one size on my E90 325, and the tires I chose ran bigger than normal, so I had a slight rub on the rear inner liners until I wore a slight groove into them.
Look at TireRack.com. They use 3-Series sedans to test tires on their test track, so results should translate directly to us.
I have new Bridgestone run flats on my 2011 328i that I bought as a certified car in February. Road noise is excruciating on our poorly repaired roads here. The noise resonates all through the front end into the car.
Next replacement time, if not sooner, I will very seriously investigate non run-flats. I understand they fit OK on the stock rims.
Correction: the run flats are Continental ContiProContact SSR run-flats: 225/45R17. Another downside is Continental does not allow any repairs to their run-flat tires if you have a puncture - other brands like Bridgestone & Michelin do.
