Now... i been driving this car for a while... and it started to get annoying with the convertible...
even though i garage the car.. sometimes when i park outside.. i close the convertible due to bird droppings and such... so i would have to stay in the car and hold the button for 30 seconds give or take...
now i know benz in the key remote itself has the option to open and close the convertible...
i jus think it would be hot.. to have the bmw key to open/close the convert... any equipment... i can buy?
I don't know about any kits like that, if your good with electrical i'm sure you could find out a way...On our 03' M3 Vert, when you press and hold the key to the left in the outside door keyhole, the top will go down, so at least you can do it from the outside of your car and not have to sit in it. It will also go up when you press it right...
I'm guessing you could link that feature somehow to let the transmitter do the same thing...
What I also forgot about (especially if your car doesn't have an alarm right now) there are plenty of alarm systems out there that allow you to put the top up and down... I will find you a few later

is that with the remote outside like 5 feet from the car?

With the remote around 5 feet away. You have to stay close to the car or it stops in mid process (which is a PITA).

Hold the key to your chin and you get better range.
I am NOT kidding!

Try it, unbeliever. I was skeptical at first, too, but the body acts as an antenna.
I find your lack of faith disturbing. :nana

I didn't believe it at first, either, so I can appreciate the skepticism. However, one day I wasn't sure if I had locked the car so I stood in my living room and pressed the lock button on the remote with no result. I then pressed unlock and the same thing happened...nothing.
I looked around and no one could see me so I figured what the heck. I had heard about it increasing range to the remote so I stuck it under my chin and pressed the lock button.
And the lights went off indicating that it was locked and alarmed......
