When's the approximate time BMW would release the new 3 series? I've seen spy photos, but I'm currently looking at the current 2004 model... Should I wait for the new model, or would it not be released for a while?
Also, when do you think they would have their 2004 model clearout sale? since that's what car dealer do usually before introducing newer models.
There is no change to the 3 series in 2005. I bought my and will be receiving it first week of Sept. The only thing that did change was that the moonroof is part of the 100% options. Other than that, still looks like the '04's.
Last Friday I received my first BMW. A 2004 325xi and I couldn't be happier. This is a great time to get a 2004 model at a great price. I paid $500 below dealer invoice.
However, there is one drawback to buying a 2004 so late in the model year. You'll have a tough time finding the exact combination of options you're looking for since all the 2004 models have already been built. For instance I had to go w/leatherette seating but did get the color I wanted along with manual transmission, premium and cold weather packages in an xi model. Other options such as the xenon lights I couldn't get on this car.
If you can't find a particular combination of options on a 2004 you might want to order a 2005.
If you are referring to E90 3 series, then you are looking at about October 2005 release for Sedans. The Coupes will follow in spring (March?) of 2006.
At least in my region, BMW's do not usually sit on the lot for a long time. Also, depending on E90 'styling', people may prefer to buy current E46 instead. In that case, you may actually have to pay little more to secure the last few.
It is a gamble. For me, I really like current E46 styling. No complete E90 pictures have surfaced but little bits and pieces shown on internet so far, only thing that interests me is potential larger power plant (which is not likely to show up until several years into the model life).
In any case, whenever you choose to buy, they will always have something new the year after. It is a neverending chase. If you wait for the best, you will be waiting forever.
