I'm a journalist working on a story about the upcoming redesign of the 3-series. I was hoping to talk to some die-hard BMW fans about what people are thinking - are you looking forward to a refreshed design? Do you wish they would just leave it alone?

Best,

Do you mind me asking what pub this will be wrote for?
I'm disappointed, and yet more pleased with my E46 that now seems more a classic.
This school of design is better manifest in the 6 series with its greater volume to handle the new sensuality. The new lines on this smaller frame seems globular and the transitions too fast without the longer wheelbase. The ratio is less like a sinuous woman.
I think the E90 (as I believe it will be) is a very important design for BM.
Only now is the 3, the most popular seller, joining the ranks of heavy-Bangle-handed design.
One picture I have seen was fantastic..... another was rubbish. I'll wait until it's out to make judgement.
I think it's an important stage in the life of the 3....... from the subtle E21, the aggressive E30, the 'bland' E36, the feminine E46.... It needs to be a bold move and I think it will upset a lot of people.
Personally I find that the more people hate it, the more I'll like it....
I could write an essay but I think it'd probably end up getting bastardised in a report I won't read or take the credit for!

Being a conservative in my car taste, I resent new rebelious (renegade?) sytles in automotive industry. BMW, while building true "Ultimate Driving Machine", seems being last to follow popular notions of aestetics and market segments widely exploited by other carmakers: SUV market and Godzilla-like exterior stylings.
I believe e46 does appeal to wide range of consumers and provide very good, if not perfect, balance of traditional automotive styling with aggressive looks. As far as new 3 series goes: from pictures seen, I can't decide if it is resistance to the new in me or it it really that bad? I will give this kid benefit of the doubt, untill I'll see it in person.
The best I can state is that when I saw first pictures of E46, while seeing 5 and 7 series on the streets, I knew: I WANT THIS CAR!
Seeing pictures of new 3 series while seeing newest 5, 6 and 7 cars: my inner voice tells me to keep on taking very good care of my E46!

I am so excited about the new e90 that I pierced my own nipple with a butter knife, slathered myself in bacon fat, and went slip-n-sliding down Main Street in Mule Pouch, Iowa!

Hi 007ben.
What's this about a new look e46s later this year? I have read that the E90 is due out next September. I am surprised that an update to the e46 is being launched when the totally new model is due out late next year?
I have just ordered my 320D Sport, does this mean that I should have waited till later?
Article stated: Reports from Germany say that the new 3-series saloon (E90) will be launched at the Frankfurt show in September 2005. The Touring estate (E91) arrives in 2006, the Coupe (E92) in autumn 2006 and the cabrio (E93) in early 2007.
