I am going to buy a E46 around the years of 2000-2002. I was wondering if the rear seats fold down, having full access to the trunk area, so it would be possible for one to sleep in the car. Such as, having part of the body in the trunk and the rest on the back portion of the folded down back seat. just a thought.

fold down rear seats were an option on most, if not all, e46's; and not a very popular one. also, once folded down all the way, the seats would not be perfectly flat with the floor of the trunk, which wouldnt make sleeping in your car impossible, just uncomfortable.

If you want folding rear seats you'll want to find one with the Cold Weather Package (includes headlight washers, 3 stage heated front seats, and split folding rear seats).
Many E46's out there will have heated seats, but not necessarily the Cold Weather Package, as heated seats can be purchased as a stand alone option.

My 01 325i actually has the 3-stage heated front seats, rear fold-down seats, ski-bag but NOT the headlight washers... so I'm not even sure if I HAVE the winter package or not (just parts of it)?!?
Oh its definitely not a car you can stretch across in... get the touring model if thats the case.

[/b][/quote] Get a tent. Sleeping in a parked car is very dangerous! People hit them. For fun sometimes. I HAD to do it while kicked out of my dorm during college ('75 VW rabbit....don't even ask...). Just for you I went out and folded down my rear seat....nooooo waaayyyyyy!. Just get the tent. Plan your summer around state parks and if you are smart enough to attact the the right opposite type of camper........
