Rear end Vibration, what is it???

2006, 325i, 168,000 miles.
Loud noise and vibration coming from rear, slight at 30 mph, but at 60 and above it is really bad, shakes seats, mirrors etc.
Mechanic said to replace all tires, and do alignment. Did not improve.
Different mechanic finally road tested it at 60 and said it most likely is differential/drive train issue. Can't look at it till next week.
Any suggestions or ideas, would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you...

I'd actually have the rear subframe inspected.

after taking car to "foreign car specialist shop", three (3) times and having $1000,00.00 worth of work done & tires, I finally took it to my home town garage guy and he diagnosed problem right away: Rear driveshaft, U-joint, splines, and cap destroyed. Went back to first place, they will repair for free, as they admitted they never put in on the rack and looked underneath!, only thought tires and alignment was the problem!

Don't be like that my friend... I have been busy the last few days, really glad you sorted it correctly as I would've suspected the drive-shaft centre bearing first... But hey-ho, all sorted now... Happy Beamering lol
