Rattling Noise??? - BMW Forum

Newbie here, wondering if anybody knows anything about/has a rattling noise (sounds metalic like the tool set but dont believe it is) coming from the back of the car. We've narrowed it down to either the rear passenger wheelwell or the trunk and have tried tape, foam, etc... Any help would be awesome.

...Of course dealership was no help.

i also have a rattling , somtimes it squeeks, from my right rear, it seems to go away at 40+. it is scaring the crap out of me

maybe is urs stuff didnt tight it up at ur back, the jack, the back-up tire

Its your rear shock mounts... take all the insulation out from your wheel wells in your trunk... look at the exposed shock mount.. and see if its warn.. then push down on the rear of the car.. and if it moves and giggles.. then they are shot. Replace.. this will often make a lot of noise after a while in the back.. and its hard to pinpoint.. because there is so much insulation under there...
