Radio/CD wont play.... Shows "PHONE"

Hi All,
I am driving BMW 323i 1999. MY car audio was working fine. Recently i just turn on my radio and the display start showing PHONE... No matter what i do it stays there and now i am unable to listen to any audio from my car. I took to BMW people and they told me the whole radio is going to be replaced. Some one told me unplug the battery for 10 min and then try. Anyone have any advice on this because radio is $1100.00
I will really appreciate any comment on that

Take it to an independant car audio specialist. Have you tried the battery method.

No, disconnect the batt for around 15 minutes NEG 1st, then re-connect putting the POS on 1st then the NEG.

Well my friend i tried that part, exactly the way you mentioned.... but nothing still when i turn on the Radio i see the same the "PHONE"

Yes after unpluging the battery as told i plugged it back. And turn on the radio by pressing the volume button down. and it come up as :PHONE: i really dont knw wht to do.. .i am so pissed on tht... cant figure out... please help me on tht...
